A threaded rod is essentially raw material for a custom-length fastening solution, which is exactly its appeal and its risk: because it can be cut to any length, buyers sometimes under-specify the grade, assuming 'threaded rod' is a commodity item interchangeable across applications. An ASTM A193 B7 stud bolt cut from certified bar stock for a pressure-boundary flange joint is a fundamentally different product from hardware-store threaded rod, even when both present the same thread pitch.
Continuous-thread stud bolts (threaded the full length) and double-end studs (threaded only at each end with a smooth center section) serve different purposes: continuous thread offers flexibility for varying grip lengths, while double-end studs position the load-bearing thread precisely where flange or vessel design calls for it, with a controlled smooth section in between.

A standard 20ft container (~20 tons) holds approximately 180,000-250,000 pieces of 1-metre threaded rod in common sizes (M10-M12) — fewer for longer lengths or larger diameters. Exact quantity depends on length and grade and is confirmed at quote time.
